Digital content includes information that is digitally broadcasted, streamed or contained in computer files and which is delivered via online and mobile media. Digital content comes in many forms, ranging from text, audio, and video files, to graphics, animations, or images. The digital content value chain spans from content creation, to content aggregation, and content distribution.
The market for Arabic digital content is US$28 billion. 98% of the people who access digital content in Qatar access Arabic content, compared to 52% for English content. There is considerable demand for vibrant digital content, with users in Qatar accessing videos (50%), news (47%), music (39%) and games (33%).
Qatar Financial Center (QFC) is planning to create a specialized cluster for media services, that will serve as a hub for financing Arabic content.
Qatar is a leader in the media industry within the region with Al Jazeera and beIN as main broadcasters for the Arab/MENA region.
There is a large unmet demand for digital content in Arabic.
There is scope to address digital content in areas such as digital advertising that currently have a low market presence as well as areas that have a high rate of adoption such as the development of e-learning platforms which has shown strong demand in the education, industrial and Government sectors.
